Noche de gambas.



March 25th, Friday evening, in the air flows the smell of spring, but grayness still dims the promise of sunny, warm days to come.
Two students decide to break with this overpowering sadness and they throw another party, this time more colourful and cheerful, a Spanish evening of tapas. Whole day spent at kitchen results with tasty dishes, and while people begin to gather in the girls’ apartment, Lusi and Domi have time to finalize the whole preparation.



The party begins with a glass of sangría, semi-sweet wine served with fruits; later on guests are invited to help themselves into whatever they fancy. They get to choose from a variety of dishes: gambas al ajillo, delicious shrimps in spicy sauce, empanadillas de carne, tortilla de atún, tortilla de espárragos, tortilla de espinaca y tortilla tradicional, pickled olives, patatas a la brava, fried potatoes with tomato salsa, and queso de cabra sobre cebolla, toasts with goat cheese, onion and sprinkled with dried apricot on top. All accompanied by fine music.
Endless conversations and constant bursts of laugh are the best proofs of the wonderful atmosphere. Finally comes time to go home, it has got late, and the party got prolongated till one o’clock, but at least every one seem cheerful and pleased with the time spent together.

Tapas, ¡olé!

We are happy to inform you that our next meeting is on 25th March, and it starts at 8 p.m. as the previous one. We haven't fully decided yet which tapas will appear, for the very good reason that there are so many different kinds of them that it is tough to choose. To make things easier, we are presenting a list of tapas that we consider tasty and commendable:
1. Gazpacho andaluz- a soup made of tomatos, red pepper, cucumber, garlic and a pinch of herbs; served cold.
2. Tortilla española- Spanish omellete; en egg omellete with fried potatoes; may include extra ingredients such as onion, tuna or spinach.
3. Empanadillas de carne- fried pastries stuffed with meat.
4. Croquetas de pollo y jamón- small fried food rolls containing chicken, ham and béchamel.
5. Patatas a la brava- small pieces of fried potatoes served with spicy tomato sauce.
6. Gambas al ajillo- shrimps with garlic butter and a pinch of chilli.
7. Salchichitas en hojaldre- sausages in flaky pastry.
8. Queso de cabra sobre cebolla- goat cheese served with onion and dried apricot on toasted baguette.

Big début!

Finally, we can post the information about our first meeting which took place on last Friday night at my place. Originally the feast should have been held on 18th February but due to the fact that I had been shut off the gas for longer than a week, we had to postpone it.
We hosted five lovely people whom we would like to thank once again for their attendance and patience as the first time is always the tough one ;-) We managed to cook and prepare everything we had planned before. Our guests seemed to be satisfied with the food too since we received lots of compliments :-) Atmosphere was also pleasant - we were joking almost all the time and listening to some French artists such as Edith Piaff, Dalida or Jean-Jacques Goldman.
Having eaten dessert, we took a cab and went to a club to dance for a while... We both had great time not only during the feast but also during preparations. Photos from the event will be available on our blog and Facebook page soon.

Le Menu

As we have estimated, we can already offer you an early draft of the menu.

For the hors d'oeuvre we are planning to serve the onion soup with garlic croutons and a touch of white wine. Quiche Lorraine - buttery pastry filled with a mixture of eggs, cream, cheese and bits of bacon - is supposed to be the culminating point. Then you should be delighted by a fromage board. For the end we are thinking about a classic dessert which is, as you may probably know, Crème brûlée. Everything accompanied by Bordeaux.

Babette's Feast

We are inviting you for the first meeting of our fresh created club. If you love delicious food, warm and cosy atmosphere combined with a piece of soft music, this is the right place for you. The theme of our first dinner is French cuisine. We are going to prepare several dishes which will certainly please the most sophisticated palates. The meeting is held on 18th February at 8 p.m. at my flat. The pass is not supposed to exceed 25 PLN. There is a limit of space; therefore we are able to receive only six people.
